Amanda is on another adventure (see my review of “Amanda in Arabia: The Perfume Flask” HERE)! This time Amanda is in Spain with her friend, Leah and Leah’s family. In the beginning of the story they are all visiting a museum. Amanda sees a painting of a girl and she thinks the girl looks so very real. Later, Amanda actually sees the girl from the painting! Everywhere Amanda goes she sees the girl and Amanda realizes that she needs help. Amanda and Leah now get involved in a big rescue mission to help save the girl and her little pony from a mean horse dealer.
I really liked the first Amanda book – “Amanda in Arabia”, and this book was just as awesome! The plot is very good and Amanda is a character everyone will like. I like how I learned a lot about Spain in this book because of the places Amanda goes and the people she meets. I hope I get to go to Spain someday! The cover is pretty cool too. I like the photos. The story is a great adventure and I think boys and girls would like it. I think this is a great book and a clean read except for a couple “OMG’s”s in it. I recommend this book to kids 8+
I give “Amanda in Spain: The Girl in the Painting” five out of five book worms!
Check out the trailer (I love the music)!

Ms. Foster’s books sound so exciting — I’m delighted you featured this one today, because over on my blog there are blog awards for all 12 x 12ers, and it was Ms. Foster who gave them to me!

Thanks for the great review Erik. So glad you enjoyed Amanda’s adventure in Spain. When Amanda says OMG she means Oh My Gosh. She likes to speak in acronyms because she thinks it’s cool. You are an excellent reviewer!
I really love this book and can’t wait to read what happens to Amanda when she is in England!
Erik
P.S. Thanks for clarifying the “OMG” 😉
How lovely to see Darlene Foster featured on your wonderful blog, Erik. She is a favourite of Plum Tree Books. So many adventures, teaching children about new places around the world. And she cannot leave England out. That is where I live (hence, the spelling of favourite). We spell English differently in England. Color is colour, Harmonize is harmonise…Your ‘z’s’ are our ‘s’s. I hope you didn’t think I couldn’t spell! It is confusing isn’t it?. That’s what happens when we travel to different countries. People do things differently!
I didn’t think you couldn’t spell (hee hee). I read a lot of books written by English and Austrailan authors and I know that words are spelled a little differently some places. I like learning more about words and languages. I am taking a Latin course to learn more about where some words come from. I really like Ms. Foster’s books and can’t wait to read her next one!
Learning the Latin route of words is, in my humble opinion, the best way to learn and appreciate the English language. Many of our words are also rooted in Greek and have given birth to philosophy. But, I digress, as sometimes I forget, Erik, that you are 10. You are so intelligent and mature that I expect you to understand such things. Lol!
Thank you for the compliment Dr. Clune! I found Latin helpful/interesting. I am thinking of taking another language up too, but I am not sure which one yet. 😀
I haven’t read any of the Amanda books yet, but I intend to catch up very soon. Great review.
Thank you Ms. Barbara! I hope you get (and like) them!
Great review, Eric. 🙂
I was fortunate to read and review Amanda in Arabia: The Perfume Flask, but I haven’t read this one yet.
Thank you Ms. Davidson! I hope you get a chance to read this book! 🙂
I enjoy travel/adventure stories such as these. And I’m glad to note that you liked this one. My favorite series includes Mitsumasa Anno’s Journeys – Anno’s USA/ Britain/ Spain. 🙂
I haven’t heard of that series – I will have to check it out! 🙂
