This is a very mixed up poetry book, so in honor of it, I am writing a mixed up review.

Here it goes…

“I fell into the mixer, and met a Gorillagator, found out I am you, got squished by my bed, and wrote about nothing!”

This book has a huge variety of poems, but all are really funny!

I literally laughed out loud when I read this! It is SO funny! The poems are all so different from each other! I like how the illustrations are drawn. They are really simple, but add a lot to the book. I think boys would really like this book. I recommend this book to kids 7+! It is a good way to get kids interested in poetry.

I give this book 5 out of 5 bookworms!

  1. Very interesting book cover to catch the eye 🙂 And getting kiddos into poetry with funny poems sounds great. Thanks for the review.

  2. This looks like some of my favorites like John Scieczka and Douglas Florian. We will definitely have to find this one.

  3. I love silly poems too. It is very skillful to have great variety in one’s poetic style. it sounds great.

  4. Perfect! There is a monthly competition looking for laugh out loud poems so I’ll need to read this so I know how funny laugh out loud is. You find with a lot of poetry books, they make you smile but not always laugh out loud. It must be very difficult. Thanks Erik!

  5. This sounds like such fun! I love poetry, and some poetry is incredibly funny. Since lots of kids seem to get the idea that poetry is boring, this sounds like the perfect book to show that poetry doesn’t have to be boring at all! Thanks, Erik!

  6. Erik, I recently reviewed this same book. I think my review was a bit mixed up too, just not on purpose. Another good review. Do “they” call out Bravo for poetry?

  7. It is so important for children to learn about the joys of poetry. Good for you, Erik that you are promoting it.

  8. Wow, a poetry book you recommend for boys. Sounds like a fun book. Your review was great.

  9. Sounds very fun, and for some reason reminds me a little of Sideways Stories From Wayside School 🙂

  10. I’m very curious about this book after reading your review. I like funny poems!

  11. I have always loved funny poems. Shel Silverstein is a favorite of mine and this book sounds like one I will laugh out loud with. As a 5th grade teacher, I am definitely curious about it. I like to find any poetry books that will help get my class into poems of any form! Thanks for this awesome review

  12. I know a great deal of avid readers who claim that they HATE poetry – I have a feeling that they must not have been introduced to books like this one. This is a great find, Erik. I am putting this on my to-be-read list. You know how I love poetry (lived and breathed it for a time, and not as much as I should nowadays, come to think of it) – what an excuse to hunt down a poetry book, thanks so much for the recommendation, dear Erik!
