HAPPY GROUNDHOG DAY! 😀
Well, I don’t know about you guys, but I want some spring flowers! The good news out of Punxsutawney is that Phil did NOT see his shadow, so we are getting an early Spring!
Let’s celebrate! Happy Dance! AND enter The Groundhog Day Fun Photo Contest!
Susanna Leonard Hill author of the awesome book, Punxsutawney Phyllis (about a cute little groundhog determined that she can be THE groundhog on Groundhog Day) is doing the contest. Ms. Hill wrote “Punxsutawney Phyllis” (see my review HERE) and April Fools Phyllis (see my review HERE).
The rules of the contest are, get a Phyllis Colorable Action Figure (AKA paper doll, find it HERE). Color and cut and maybe add a popsicle stick then –
“take her outside to a location of your choosing on the morning of Saturday February 2 (also known as Groundhog Day!) and photograph Phyllis (she’s very photogenic!)”
“Post the picture on your blog any time between Saturday February 2 and Monday February 4th and in the caption underneath (or a post if you’re feeling expansive) tell us where she is (e.g. Mount Everest, Nepal or Chicago, Illinois), the weather conditions (e.g. sunny and -12 degrees) and whether or not she saw her shadow (and hence whether she’s predicting an early spring or 6 more weeks of winter.)”
Here is my entry:
Phyllis didn’t see her shadow, for it was snowing and cold . It is 18.5*F in (literally) our tiny town in Pennsylvania.
My sister also entered the contest and posted her picture on her blog. Please click HERE and go to see it. 🙂

Have a nice weekend everyone!

But I wanted six more weeks of winter. 🙁 Oh well. Pool weather, here I come!
I’m doing this too, Erik. Mine will go up tomorrow. Loved yours. Fun, fun, fun! (They look jealous) Ha. Great post. (Phyll didn’t see her shadow here either. *sigh*)
Sorry. What I REALLY want is for my Mom to get a 4 wheel drive car. We need one where we live… It snows BAD.
Oh my goodness, Erik! You made me laugh! All the other action figures SHOULD be jealous 🙂 Thank you for your very complete weather report, your excellent photo, and for sharing your reviews of PUNXSUTAWNEY PHYLLIS and APRIL FOOL, PHYLLIS!
Thanks Ms. Hill! Yes, they SHOULD be jealous! 🙂
Matthew loves your picture, Erik! Happy Groundhog day!
Happy Groundhog Day Ms. Johnson and Matthew! 🙂
That’s why Green Lantern was extra green. it was “Phyllis envy” 🙂
Love your photo Erik!
That’s a good one Ms. Brown! Thanks!
Great scene, Erik. You really cleaned out the toybox, there! I love it.
Thanks!
Phyllis is giving them a pep talk!
I don’t know… It sure looks like it! (remember, this is taken with a super special camera that you see up close real well into that far away place 😉 )
Ahhhhh, I see!
🙂
HaHa! That’s great Erik!
Thank you!
I love it! Phyllis with he friends. Looks cold there in your neck of the woods. brrrr….
It IS cold! 🙂
Happy Groundhog Day, Erik! I love your Phyllis photo…Phyllis can be the Super-Hero of Tunneling.:) I have to compliment you on your posts, by the way. They are always EXCELLENT…it’s terrific that you included all of the links to your reviews of Ms. Hill’s Phyllis books.:)
Thank you so much Ms. Kirkfield! 😀
Erik, you are hands-down the winner of this contest in my book. 🙂
😀
What a great picture. I love the depth of field you produced by focusing so close to the little Lego guy. I also like the idea of no more winter, but today we got what must be three feet – okay two inches – of snow. You did a great job. I really hope you win. Can we vote for a winner?
Ummmm… actually, that LEGO guy is ummm… a giant LEGO flashlight… I WISH I could do all that fancy stuff you talk about! 😉
Really? Is the Lego guy the handle? I never would have guessed. One secret about photography: never tell your secrets. Even so, it is a great job and I hope you win.
The lights are in his feet (2 separate lights on two moveable feet!)… 🙂
What a fun contest. I LOVE your entry! !
Thanks!
How Fun! Phyllis got to play with her friends. I wished I thought of that. She would’ve had a lot of Lego friends at my house- enough for a football team…the San Francisco 49ers football team…ha-ha!
Yeah, she would have had a lot too… Just I don’t like my LEGOs in the snow…
I love it! Perfectly winterliscious.
Thanks! 😀
Great photos. What an imaginative project. Hope the snow clears soon, Erik!
Thank you Dr. Clune!
Brrrrrrrrr — Phyllis looks cold! Good thing she has a lot of friends to play with. Great photo, Erik!
Thanks Ms. Rattigan! 😀
Phyllis looks so happy to have such “super” friends paying a visit! I love it!
Stay warm out there Erik. My camera doesn’t click very well when it gets cold. 🙂
Thank you Ms. Mealey! My watch doesn’t work that well when it gets cold either… 🙂
Perhaps Wonder Woman should have listened to Phyllis and her weather superpowers. 😉 Great photo, Erik!
HA HA! I was going to have the caption read “It seemed only Batman listened to Phyllis’ prediction.” Thanks! 😀
Fun! Fun! Fun! What a good job, Erik. I thought the action figures gathering was a super hero touch! Thanks for connecting to the other blogs, quite generous.
Thanks! 😀
I bet Susanna’s wheels are already turning. Phyllis action figure – what’s next? Ahhh, super hero Phyllis. Fun entry, Erik.
Thanks Ms. Christian!
Very clever, Erik. I visited your sister’s blog, too. Smart and creative kiddies you both are. 🙂
Thanks Ms. Davidson! 😀
I love that Phyllis is surrounded by LEGO and superhero figures! What fun!
Thanks!
Super Phyllis!!!! I guess she fights for truth, justice, and another sunny day! Nice entry, Erik!
I thought she went as the Phyllies… But anyway, doesn’t she also fight for the chocolate too? 😉 Thanks!
