Today is Creative Kid PET Thursday!I have a good book to tell you about! It was written by a dog (Stanley) and a cat (Katrina)!
The Perpetual Papers of the Pack of Pets
by Stanley and Katrina
86 pages – ages 8+
Published by CreateSpace on December 21, 2012
Katrina Von Cat, Master of Wisdom and Knowledge, has had it with the dog eating her food all the time. Katrina realizes that they have been living in the same house for a while and she really hasn’t bothered to find out the dog’s name. So she writes a letter to the dog to ask his name and that he stop eating her food. Stanley (the dog) says the letter is nice, but he won’t stop eating her food. Katrina decides to take Stanley to kitty court! And that’s just the start of the trouble they cause!
This story was extremely well written! The way it starts out with the cat and dog writing letters to each other is unique and also hysterical (the letter writing continues through the book)! I love the plot idea of two pets living in the same house for years and pretty much ignoring each other until the one starts eating the other’s food. The characters (Stanley and Katrina) were great and there are other great characters like Mandy the bluebird and Mr. Fluffypants a guinea pig that lives next door who thinks he’s an astronaut, so he calls himself “Zorg.” I also love the story being told through the POV on the animals. This is a VERY fun book!

The premise for this novel is absolutely adorable. Have to check this out some more. Thanks for sharing this review.
I think you would like it Ms. Brown!
Great review Erik. I enjoyed this book too and thought it was highly original.
Thanks Mr. Lothian!
Wow! Thank you, thank you, thank you for the amazing review. We appreciate it tremendously. Neighbor girl loves your blog and visits it daily. She said we are very lucky to get high praise from This Kid Erik. Our paws are dancing around and we haven’t even received any treats yet.
Thanks again for reviewing our book, Erik!

Katrina and Stanley! It’s a thrill having you guys on my blog! 🙂
We are thrilled to be here!
😀
Cute trailer!!
I know! 😀
Mom and I LOVE this idea. Mom says she’ll check this book out and maybe we’ll read it. I’ve always wanted to write a letter to the cat that hides under the car, around the corner from me. This may be the inspiration I need! Thanks, Erik.
Love and licks,
Cupcake
I hope you like it! 😀
Just ordered it for our school library….thanks for the recommend!
I hope you like it!
You really pick the best books, Erik. This sounds hilarious! I bet adults enjoy it as well as kids too.
My Mom read it… and she LOVED it! 😀
:0)
🙂
Great review Erik – we’ve just read this one as well – highly original and imaginative! 🙂
Thanks Ms. C!
Hooray Erik, we loved this book from one talented little lady. I laughed so hard when the Cat council was revealed. I also loved the newspaper at the end. Priceless. We can’t wait for a sequel, or maybe Zorgs own spinoff book. Cheers Julie
I like the Cat Council too. 😉 I hope a sequel is in the making! 😀
Yes, Erik. The sequel is in the making! The next book includes our owners placing us in an agility course as well as a visit to a pet psychic – ugh! We did eliminate the letters in the second book. We realized how ridiculous letter writing is since we live in the same house – why don’t we just talk to one another?

When will it be out? I can’t wait!
To answer your later question, we are hoping to publish it around the middle of July. It is longer because we have had a lot more activity in our house lately. But there is a way to get our second book early. Hopefully in May, we will get our in progress second book on https://leanpub.com/u/stanleyandkatrina. You can put bookson there that are not completely finished yet. So for those of you who are looking forward to our next book, please check it out.

Thanks Katrina!
Looks like a fun book. I love reading letters :).
So do I. I think you would like “The Jolly Postman (Or Other People’s Letters)” 😉
That’s a lot of fun twists for one book!
😀
This is too funny. What a clever idea for a book!
I think you would like it Ms. Foster! 😀
This sounds like a very philosophical book. I like to eat the cat’s food too. Is there anything wrong with that? I don’t think that our cat knows who shares her food with her. She’s kind of a clueless thing who lives in the bathroom and sleeps in the sink. I think I should check this book out and see how Stanley and Katrina work things out. Thanks for sharing.
I think you would LOVE this book Rhythm! 😀
This book sounds so fun. I bet the conversation between the cat and dog are hilarious. Thanks of sharing. I definitely want to read this one!
The conversations ARE hilarious! 😀
I love the idea of pets writing to each other. I wish I’d thought of it! Sounds like a great book.
It is a great book! 😀
This sounds VERY entertaining, Erik! You had me at the mention of Mr. Fluffypants 🙂
I think you would LOVE it Ms. Hill!
Great review, Erik. Thank you.
Thanks Ms. Robinson!
I love this…Really great!
Thanks Dr. Clune!
Hi Erik, I like the concept of this book. We had a “Message in a Bottle” bimonthly theme sometime in 2010 I think where we featured books that are epistolary in format (completely written through letters) – this would have been a good book to include in that theme. 🙂
I really liked that style of writing through letters. There was also narration, but the letters were funny!
