Amy, of the Northern Region, was excited to see that she and her best friends were chosen to represent their region in the Enchanted River Race. The race is on the Enchanted River, which creates 3 challenges and 3 different environments that are supposed to be solved with a book of riddles and a box of random things. Who will win the race?

This was a pretty good book. The plot was pretty simple, but this adventure book is meant for younger kids. I think it’s hard to find fun adventure books written well for grade school age kids. I like the idea of the Enchanted River. It is REALLY cool! I like how the author mixes riddles in the plot and it is fun to try to figure them out. The story was a quick read for me (about 30 minutes), but again I think it is because it is meant for younger kids. I like Amy. She seems like a nice kid. I think kids 7+ would enjoy this book!

  1. I like the idea of an enchanted river and a mystery to solve. Great for younger readers.

  2. I love the idea of an enchanted river Erik. And it must be very hard for you to read for a younger age group!

  3. Riddles sound like brain work. My brain is filled with treats and toys.

    Love and licks,

  4. You certainly do read a lot, Erik! This sounds interesting. A race on a river would keep the action going, but making it an enchanted river adds that special touch.

  5. A story about an enchanted river is enough for me! And I like figuring out riddles. The Mom Person gives me riddles to solve all the time. And they usually lead to yummmmy treats!

  6. I really appreciate that you review books for age groups other than your own too, Erik.

  7. I love the idea of an enchanted river. This sounds like a great book for kids who are starting to read chapter books. Thanks for sharing!

  8. This book sounds fun.
Eric, my email about this post said it was a double post with Grandpa Gruff. No Grump here. Just wondered – even the link in the email goes to an error page. Maybe you are reading a little too fast? 🙂

    • Uhhh… *No comment*? Blog Malfunction? Accidental posting? If anything, I’m pacing myself with my reading! 😎
No seriously – I accidentally posted a very early draft of some reviews I was doing (originally it was going to be a double review). I posted the notes I was jotting down not the real post 😳 I fixed it when I realized what I did.
