Andy Smithson couldn’t believe it when he is (accidentally) magically teleported from our world to the land of Oomaldee. While the King of Oomaldee and the wizard that brought Andy there are trying to figure out how to send Andy back, Andy is asked to break a 500-year-old curse by the ghost of a past king of Oomaldee. The curse on Oomaldee is that there is a thick fog on the land and no one can see very far and the current king can never die (he is supposed to live to see misery that he caused). To break the curse, Andy must collect hard-to-find ingredients for a recipe. Step 1: Get a scale from a red dragon, the fiercest of all the dragons. And to do that, you must go through Oomaldee and into the enemy kingdom! Should be easy peezy right? Not really…
I have been reading some really great independently published books lately and I can add this one to my list. This was a very exciting book! I like the plot a lot. I read a lot of magic and fantasy books and I like it when I read a story that is different from what is out there already. Andy is a great main character. He is very believable character. Alden, Andy’s friend in Oomaldee, was a good character too. The cover art is super-cool (I know you aren’t supposed to judge a book by its cover, but I get disappointed when a good book has a bad cover). Ms. Lee’s writing style kept me on the edge of my seat. Even though the book is short (only 200 pages), I didn’t feel like it left unanswered questions and I really enjoyed reading it. I am looking forward to Book 2!
