Happy Monday!
Before my review today, I get to announce the winners of Mo Willems’ newest book, “The Pigeon Needs A Bath!”
The lucky winners were chosen by putting all the names in a hat and my sister Josie picked them out.
The winners are –
DEBBIE AUSTIN (who really, really, really wanted to win)
KIMBERLY (and her hot-dog obsessed toddler),
and,
STACY JENSEN (which is good because apparently Enzo needs a bath too)!!!
Congratulations!!!
I’ll email you guys so you can claim your prize! 🙂
Little Dog in the Middle of the Road
by Sharon P. Stanley
Illustrated by Deidre Carr
28 pages – ages 4+
Published by Silver Tongue Press on November 3, 2013
Little dog’s owner is going on a trip and she tells him to stay put. Don’t worry, Mrs. Thistleberry is going to come look after him. But Mrs. Thistleberry doesn’t like Little Dog very much. She doesn’t play games with him. Little Dog decides there is only one thing to do – go look for his person! Little Dog wiggles out of the yard and sets off to search. After a while, Little Dog decides this wasn’t such a great idea. Will he ever find his person?
Who doesn’t love a good “lost dog” story? 🙂 This is a very good book for young kids to read by themselves and I think it would also make a great read-aloud. I think that Ms. Stanley’s writing style is one that kids will enjoy. The words are simple so younger kids will be able to read it by themselves. The illustrations are very cute and will make you smile. The cover image is a bit “smushed” but I think that was just a publication problem. The interior illustrations don’t have that problem. This book would make an excellent bedtime story.
I give this book 5 out of 5 bookworms!
This book was nominated as a perfect picture book by Susanna Leonard Hill! Check out Ms. Hill’s review HERE.
Sue Morris of Kid-Lit Reviews, reviewed the book too – Click HERE!
Check out the book’s trailer!
Really cute trailer and the story sounds heartwarming 🙂
It is a great book! 😀
Thanks for taking a peek Penny!
I’m a sucker for all dog books. This one looks very sweet!
Congrats to the Pigeon winners!
It’s a great book! 😀
I’m a dog lover too…who isn’t?! Thanks for reading.
Congratulations to the winners of Mo Willems books.
Kids do love lost dog/animal stories — of which many movies have been made. This is a great idea for a book.
I always wonder what my dog feels when I leave him for a week or so. Fortunately he stays at a friends house and has a big fenced in yard to explore,
Good point Mrs. Tilton. I wondered the same about our dog (our dog passed on about 3-4 years ago). 🙂
Thanks for taking a peek Patricia, lost dogs do tug the hear strings don’t they?
I am so behind on my reviews, I am glad you reviewed Little Dog Lost. I think all children can relate to this lost little dog.
I think you might be right! 🙂
Thanks Joanna, for stopping by and reading Erik’s review…how DO we get so behind?? No clue!
I can’t believe I won! Especially after my immature, attention-seeking entry. 🙂 Thank you!
The Little Dog book looks cute. I love that you post the trailers. Do you have a trailer for your book?
Well, better believe it! 😉 As a matter of fact, I DO have a trailer for my book! Which I haven’t posted about because I am too darned busy! Thanks for the
reminderexcuse to post about it! 😉Congrats on your win, and thanks for stopping in and peeking at Little Dog!
Congrats to the winners and thanks for today’s review. This dog story really sounds enjoyable.
It is a great story Ms. Brown! 😀
Thanks for stopping in Angela, I hope you get a chance to read about Little Dog’s adventure.
I’m afraid of “lost dog” stories! That’s why I walk next to Mom on my leash. I don’t want to get lost. However, if I were lost and in the middle of the road….. Yup. I’d take a nap! ….And wait for Mom to find me.
Love and licks,
Cupcake
Sometimes, C, you make me wonder… 😉
Oh Cupcake! Thanks for reading, but don’t be alarmed…spoiler alert…it all turns out well! 🙂
Oh! Sweet! You are right, Erik. Who doesn’t like little dog lost stories?
I love a dog story too, especially if it ends happily! Thanks for stopping in a reading Erik’s review.
Thank you! 😀
Thank you! Enzo (our boy, who was named after a dog in a book) also thanks you. We are dog people and will look for this book.
I loved Racing in the Rain. (that’s where you got the name, right?) 🙂 I love dogs. 🙂
Chalk one more up! Yeah! I loved this story and thought about the say way you do about the book. It is cute and the cover, it you look at the video, you can see what the un-smushed image should have been like. I love the video. What is the score now anyway? hehe 🙂 Nice review, Erik the Great! 😉
*mumble* Thank you Magnificent Ms. Morris… 😉
This sounds like a great book and I loved the trailer- so different from any book trailer I have seen! Best of luck to Sharon!
It is a great book! 😀
I saw this book reviewed on Sue’s blog, and loved the sound of it. I’d just like all critters to stay out of the road, though! I’m hoping that this story is really a lil’ FOUND dog! Great review, SuperKid!
It is a great story, L.Lobo! 😀
Congrats to all the winners! Looks like lots of kids will be getting baths soon 🙂 Good! Now I can remove the clothespin from my nose 😉
And THE LITTLE DOG IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD (which always makes me cringe, thinking it’ll get run over!) is getting high praise all over the place! Will have to check this one out 🙂 Great review, Erik 😀
IThey don’t smell THAT bad, right? 😉 I think you’ll like the book! 🙂Little dogs in the middle of the road scare me! We have rescued a few of those in my time. But this book looks pretty cute and I hope that it has a happy ending! thanks for sharing a great review and that cool trailer!
It has a great ending. It would make you smile. (I know dogs can do it, so don’t deny it! 😉 )
😀
Congratulations to the winners. We are so bummed we didn’t win but are happy for those who won. We are worried about the dog in the middle of the road – it sounds scary for the Little Dog. This sounds adorable, though. Thanks for sharing. ~CM
It is a sweet book! 😀
I know what you mean about good lost dog stories – there is definitely something about them that tugs at the heartstrings. Thank you for sharing this new-to-me title.
It is a cute book! 😀
