Platypus detectives Rick Zengo and Corey O’Malley are on the case! When a newly built super-amusement park in Kalamazoo City goes through a strange power-outage, sabotage is suspected. The mishaps at the amusement park threaten to derail plans to have Chase Mercy’s new blockbuster film made at the park too! As their investigation unfolds they come up with many questions. One being, why are all the people hired to work at the park from Kalamazoo City’s rival, Walhalla City? The Platypus Police Squad will get to the bottom of this mystery!
I have not read the first book in this series, but after reading this one, I’m going to pick it up. I love that the characters are animals. I think animal characters leave more room for humor and Mr. Krosoczka takes advantage of that (for example, a walrus owns a contractor company, and chameleon runs a newspaper). The book is hilarious. The story is well written and the plot is solid. There are black and white sketchy illustrations scattered throughout the book that breaks the text up and add to the story. They also make it more funny (if that is possible)! I also like that, in this book series, Mr. Krosoczka doesn’t have guns. The replacement is a boomerang. I think that that is great because, a) boomerangs are cool, and b) it makes the book more appropriate for younger kids.
I give “The Ostrich Conspiracy” 5 out of 5 bookworms!

I think I must have a look into this conspiracy thing! Lol!
I think you would love it! 😀
I like the author from his online presence. A really cool guy!
He sounds it, from what I’ve seen of videos! 😀
I give it five stars just for it’s title! 🙂
Well, the mayor is an ostrich… 🙂 It’s an awesome hooker! 😀
The animal characters sound so fun and interesting. Can’t say I’ve read many stories featuring platypusses (platypusi?) More than one platypus. 😀 And boomerangs! Great point about it being appropriate for younger kids too without guns in the story. Hadn’t heard of this series. I’m intrigued!
The Plural Platypus Police Squad is great for young kids! 😉 I think you would like it. 🙂
Great to have animals as main characters. Looks like fun.
It’s a great book, Dr. Clune! 😀
I’m a big fan of Perry the platypus from Phineus and Ferb so this series sounds like a great one to get a hold of. Thanks for the review.
It is a great book! 😀
I’ll have to pick this one up. I like that the characters are animals, also, Erik. Seems to leave more room for humor. Animals can do things people can’t. Thanks for sharing this book with us. 🙂
It also makes it easier for you to make someone suspicious (example – if a person has a cupboard full of lettuce, it’s strange, but nothing more. Now, if it was an octopus… 😉 ). I like that. 🙂
Yeahl! I see what you mean. 🙂
🙂
That’s funny! Platypus and ostriches! what a combo!
It’s a great book! 😀
Great review! If the animals can use boomarangs they are very adept as well as smart. It takes skill to throw a boomarang properly for it to come back to you. 🙂
Well, it might be hard for a platypus to pull the trigger on a gun… 😉
Every time I see this platypus, I laugh 🙂 Jarrett J. Krosoczka is so talented. Nice 5-out-of-5, Erik 🙂
It is a great book! 😀
What a great cover and title. Great review!
Thank you Mrs. Tilton! It is a great book! 😀
Love the expressions on their bills 🙂 Looks and sounds like the series is worth checking out. Platypodes are such cool creatures.
It is a great cover, isn’t it? 🙂
I need a ruling: Who is cooler, a Platypus Policeman or Phineas and Ferb’s Perry?
Hmmm… Secret agents rock, but so do boomerang-throwing billed-mammal policemen… So… It’s a tie! 😀
That does seem like a very Elvis-Presley-like-platypus! 🙂
Maybe in hair-do, but not in to-do! (I know that sounds horrible. Just nod and smile like you know what I’m talking about..) 😉
