Synopsis- Sal is an older cat. He lives at an animal shelter with other cats. He’s been there for a long time. Everyone that comes in wants kittens. Today is visiting day. Will today be the day he finds his forever home?
What I Thought- This is a cute picture book about animal adoption. It points out that kittens get adopted quicker, and that most older pets are there longer. It is put in a simple way so younger kids can understand it well. The book is written more for older kids, but is a great read-aloud for younger kids. The illustrations are a warm watercolor that really makes you feel good inside. I like that this is a book about cat adoption – usually the ones I see are about dogs. The story has a happy ending, and will encourage kids to adopt animals that they will take care of.
I give this 5 out of 5 bookworms!

A nice way of introducing pet adoption to younger readers!
It’s a great picture book! 😀
Did you find this at an adoption center? I have a friend writing a similar book.
No, the illustrator sent me a copy to review. I can see it being at an animal shelter though. 🙂
I feel you, Sal. I was 3 years old when Mom adopted me. She said the word, “Too old. I want a 6 month old.” I taught her how wrong she was!
Love and licks,

Co cool that it is an older cat that gets adopted. I have been following two animal shelters for older pets on FB and they are so adorable.
We follow the one where we got Clyde, our (older) dog from. 🙂
I love htis book. We always adopted older cats and have never been sorry.
Well, personally, I don’t like cats, but I know what you mean. 🙂
What a really great book. Love the focus on adopting older cats.
It’s a great book, Mrs. Tilton! 😀
A topic very close to my heart. Nice to see a book on the subject for kids.
Yes, it’s a good one! 😀
