Synopsis from Publisher-Meet Groovy Joe, a fun-lovin’, guitar-strummin’, doggy-ice-cream-eatin’ pup as he wrangles three hungry dinosaurs and soon has them singing, grooving, and sharing!

Groovy Joe was living the dream.
He had a spoon and tub of doggy ice cream.
And he started to sing:
Love my doggy ice cream! Love my doggy ice cream!

Eric Litwin, author of the bestselling and beloved Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes, and bestselling artist Tom Lichtenheld, illustrator of Goodnight, Goodnight Construction Site, have created a captivating new canine character who will groove his way into readers’ hearts and have them grooving and giggling all the while. In his debut adventure, Groovy Joe faces three roaring dinosaurs hungry for his doggy ice cream! Oh no! But Joe knows just what to do and soon enough he has them all sharing while moving and singing along.”

What I Thought- This is a really nice picture book! I really liked Mr. Litwin’s Pete the Cat series, and the positive message it sends, and this new series looks like it will be just as great! The illustrations are very fun, summing up the signature rhyme and rhythm of Mr. Litwin’s writing perfectly. The book has repetitive phrases, so kids will be able to follow along easily, and even read together with their parents. Groovy Joe is a good role model, always showing kindness, and not yelling at the three dinos that kick down his door (that is extreme kindness right there!). This is a great new book, and kids will love the new series, with the next book coming out in Fall 2017! Love the groovy music downloads that go with the book too! I wonder if Groovy Joe will ever meet Pete the Cat! 😉

  1. My grandson is turning 10 on Oct. 3 and he is writing his own comic book or graphic novel. He deserves to read this book and receive the downloadables. Go Groovy Joe and my Jack! If he wins this prize, he will find it will “Make his day”!

  2. I often pay for police and other first responders meals very sneakily. 🙂

  3. Awesome! I love the Pete the Cat books, and I didn’t know about this one. I’ll have to add it to my library. 🙂

  4. When I made someone’s day: I recently opened at Little Free Library focusing on kids’ books. A car drove up with a dad, baby in a car seat, and a little girl. I watched her from my dining room window. She was too timid to get completely out of the car and check out the library. I went out and explained how it worked, etc. She left clutching a book and wearing a big smile. If I win this book, it will go into my Little Free Library after I review it.

  5. This series sounds just swell…and groovy!

  6. I would love to win this! It looks like so much fin.

  7. I would love to win this super cute book and read it to my son
    Thank You for the chance

  8. If I won this book, YOU will have made MY day. But the other way around, hm. I know I have. I used to surprise my mother with lunch when I was in college. I once paid someone’s grocery bill when they were short the correct amount. This is an odd thing to ask. Who thinks about these things. People just do nice things and move on. But if you send me that book, you make my day, I will send you a big thank you card to make your day.
