Perfect Picture Book Friday! Love, Triangle by Marcie Colleen

Susanna Leonard Hill has a feature on her blog called Perfect Picture Book Friday. It is a list of “perfect” picture books recommended by all sorts of people. I chose this book because it is a fun look at friendship dilemmas.

Theme/Topic- Friendship
Genre- Fiction
Opening and Synopsis- Opening: “Ever since they were a dot and a speck, Circle and Square’s friendship had a shape of its own.”

Synopsis from Publisher: “Ever since they were a dot and a speck, Circle and Square have been best friends…. Then someone new comes along: a cool, exciting Triangle. And three starts to feel like a crowd. . . .

With their friendship bent out of shape, can they put it back together again?”

What I Thought- This is a very clever take on a “love triangle” story line. I like how it is refreshing, and a little humorous too. Colleen has crafted a wonderful book to help kids understand that it’s okay to have another friend. Shea’s illustrations rock too, with a lot of use of white space, and big bold shapes and colors. I absolutely loved this book, and I am sure that others will love this too!

  1. Mom has been my best friend since I was a speck. I will keep this lesson in mind, in case I have to deal with another best friend. *gulp*

    Love and licks,
