T. Rex Time Machine
By Jared Chapman
44 pages – ages 4+
Published by Chronicle Books on September 4, 2018
Theme/Topic- Time Travel, Dinosaurs
Opening- “One day a time traveler traveled back to prehistoric times…which he quickly regretted.”
Synopsis from the Publisher- “When two hungry dinosaurs jump into a time machine, they’re transported to an unbelievable, magical, surreal future: RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW! On the T. Rexes’ madcap voyage into the unknown, they encounter the many wonders of the modern world: Police cars! Phones! Microwaves! They don’t know how they’ll get home—but why would they want to?”
What I Liked- This was one of the most fun picture books I’ve read in a while, with humor flooding the pages, from every word to every image. The book is longer than a standard picture book (44 pages versus the standard 32), but it is set up in a format similar to a graphic novel, which makes it very easy to read. The book is downright absurd, but in the most hilarious of ways – guaranteed to have kids rolling in laughter! Chapman has written a story that kids will love to read again and again.
Activities and Resources- There are some great dinosaur activities at Littlebinsforlittlehands.com HERE. I found a really cool game about time travel from Fatherly.com HERE.

This sounds like a clever and very humorous book. Kids love to laugh. Am sure my great grandson will enjoy it — he loves dinosaurs.

My class is learning about dinosaurs right now. I’m going to see if I can get a hold of this one.
Thanks for sharing, Erik!
Just from your review, I know this is a book I can’t wait to read. Thanks for sharing it with us today!
Time-traveling dinosaurs, what’s not to love. And we all need a little humor these days. Thanks for highlighting it Erik.

Wow! This sounds like so much fun. I know a few boys who would love this!
I wish they came to my house while they were here. I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t have been afraid of them…. #yesiwould
Love and licks,

I just read this one. I agree. It’s over-the-top humor is delivered with the kind of deadpan “of course this would happen next” makes it a winner.
